Commission for Sowerby Bridge High Street Heritage Action Zone
Working with Sowerby Bridge and its local community, I created this sculpture based on the interaction between local towns and their access to the network of canals and Rivers along the Calder in West Yorkshire.
Using a map of the Calder as a start point, I used the shape and its proximity to nearby towns to create abstract forms and link them together as a river would. Like a joined network of journeys, the sculpture embodies how the waterways and river infrastructures have developed and enriched connections between neighbouring communities.
