THE INFINITELY GREAT AND THE INFINITELY LITTLE

GROUP EXHIBITION

Many of my projects previous to this one have over time come to be resolved in this degree show exhibition. This installation, called ‘The Infinitely Great and The Infinitely Little’, aimed to solidify my understanding of how we perceive ourselves in the world, and also how humans fit into a wider context in the universe.

By using the previous theme of macro/micro I decided to place the Foramen in the middle of these two perspectives to show them in relation to where humans fit into the theme of a literal scale. Instead of just existing, they watch the micro world which floats around in front of them, possibly trying to comprehend how the simplest of organisms function in their existence. Their scale is a representation of the macro realm. They sit on islands to suggest that what you are seeing could also be a scaled down version of reality and possibly these islands are in fact large land masses or even a panoramic snapshot of a planet. By illustrating this it leaves the viewer in the middle of this narrative, with the aim of showing that perspective doesn’t only have to be attributed to the Foramen, but instead can be taken on by the audience.
